Practical Demonstration

Part of the Certified Cicerone exam involves a practical demonstration of a skill involved in keeping and serving beer. This section accounts for about 4% of your total score.

The Draft Quality Assurance Manual covers most of the information that you will need to know concerning keeping and serving beer.

Will you actually be serving draft beer as part of the exam?

Well, that would cost money, and the test site would have to have a draft system installed, so that is unlikely.

The Draft Quality Assurance Manual stresses the importance of regular system cleaning. This is an important topic, so think about what parts of the draft system need frequent cleaning.

Will you be cleaning a draft beer line?

Again, the test site would have to have a draft system installed, and you would be using caustic cleaner.

Think of some other parts of a draft system that need frequent cleaning, then watch this video describing how to clean a draft faucet.

The guy in the video is a Cicerone Exam Manager.
Watch this video again. It might be important.

You may want to purchase an inexpensive faucet to practice with.

You will be videotaped while doing your demonstration, and you will have three minutes to do it.

You will be given a written description of the task prior to your videotaping. Make sure that you refer to the written description during your demonstration to make sure that you address all of the points listed.

Be extra confident going into the test so that stage fright or camera shyness doesn't get the best of you.
